Special interview with CNBLUE who will start the concert tour in Japan with their new album ‘Wave’!

Their involvement in the music world and themselves of each member, etc.…

Korean handsome 4 members rock band, CNBLUE. They joined a-nation and Summer Sonic in August that these are popular rock festival in Japan, and they showed their high music skill and performance to not only their fans but also to the music fun.

Their new album will be released on September 17th!

We talked about their new album, rock festival, and their concert tour that will be started from October.

What is the concept for your new album ‘WAVE’?

Yonghwa: In a word, ‘exhilaration that we feel’. This time, we made this song to have clear, fresh and refreshing image.

Minhyuk: All of songs that were composed by Yonghwa-hyeong and Jonghyun-hyeong are good as we couldn’t choose the lead song!

Jungshin: We were really thinking about it and finally chose ‘Radio’ that was composed by Yonghwa-hyeong. This song has the melody such feelings as running fast and the fresh sound, we could show our new dimension. And this is so cool song as I can image that we’ll jump with fans during our concert!

Yonghwa: I made this song that is rock and dancable with incorporating our taste into the trend of rock music now.

What is your memory for recording?

Yonghwa: This song has the chorus part like “wow wow~” though, the recording for this part was taken longer than I sing 1 song.

Who was to blame?

Yonghwa: Jungshin! (Everybody laughed)
Jungshin: Because I love this song so much, I felt became more and more hyper. I only ran around in emotional circles.

How many hours did it take?

Jungshin: 15 min?

Yonghwa: Huhhhhh?

Jungshin: Eh? It would be taken so, wouldn’t it?

Yonghwa: (Deep Breath) I can only say he worked hard for a long time.

Jungshin: ahaha.

By reading the lyric, it seems to be love song as well as not a love song…

Yonghwa: In my feeling, it’s like the feeling to reminisce about the analog days, not about a woman.

Minhyuk: But I think your (interviewer) point of view isn’t wrong. Our song sounds like a love song, but actually, most of our songs are like looking back ourselves or sing about painting a vision of the future.

Yonghwa: Exactly, in this time’s our album doesn’t have lots of love songs. ‘Still’ ‘Truth’, and ‘lonely night’ are love song that were composed by me.

Jonghyun: My composed song ‘How Awesome’ expresses the relationship of our fans and us. Depends on the situation or the feeling, our song has various faces, and it’s our lure.

Where do you write the lyric?

Jonghyun: In the airplane. Because we go to overseas frequently. The memo application on a cell phone is very useful.

Yonghwa: I write a lyric in the overseas hotel by using notebook at night. I wrote ‘Control’’s lyric in Japan.

If the environment changed, the idea could come into your head. By the way, let us know your ‘WAVE’ things after your album title.

Jonghyun: I am interested in a philosophy now. It is the question of human’s essential. The meaning that I am here now or the meaning I am alive…

Yonghwa: Aristotle ~! Socrates~.

Did you find the answer?

Jonghyun: If I could find the answer, I am not here (Laugh). I am looking for the answer while reading a book, search by internet and talking people. But the more I think about it, the more I don’t get to understand.

Minhyuk: It comes out soon. Because it is too difficult (Laugh).

Well, What kind of things is Minhyuk-ssi interested in?

Minhyuk: well… What is…

Jungshin: Ikebana! (Flower arrangement)

Ikebana!?

Minhyuk: Ahaha. I like flower. I get some flower from a market and arrange them myself. I learn to arrange them on my own, so I want to take a class and learn about it. Anything else I can say, I want to do clay shooting.

Jungshin: Minhyuk has a great deal of curiosity.

Yonghwa: He is on the way to find his own hobby. This is kind of the journey what fit for him.

Minhyuk: Yes I am. I want to find a hobby that I can keep it though my life.

Well, what is the WAVE that has come now among you guys?

Jungshin: ummmm, maybe nothing (Laugh) Because Yonghwa-hyeong and I are busy for drama shooting, we can’t take a time to do something with the other member.

Minhyuk: We used to play basketball together, but (pointing at Yonghwa and Jungshin) they don’t come back home at all.

Jonghyun: So, I am happy. Freedom~!

Jungshin: He said like that though, when we are not in a dorm with other work, he sends us a message ‘I love you’. Jonghyun-hyeong seems to get lonely easily.
Jonghyun: (with a serious look) Why do I send a message ‘I love you’ to members… oh, I run into a philosophical issue again. I can’t sleep today too.

Do you live together?

Jungshin: Yes. But we say it’s time to start to live apart.

Jonghyun: Yonghwa-hyeong and I live together for about 8 years.

Yonghwa: So long? It’s from I was 20 years old, so about 5 years, isn’t it?

Jonghyun: Oh? Sorry~.

If you lived apart, you would get miss to each other.

Yonghwa: I’d be better off on my own. Just kidding (Laugh). If we lived apart, it would be meaning only change the place that we sleep, so nothing will change.

Jungshin: If we lived apart for real, we would realize whether or not we miss to each other.

Jonghyun: We might understand the importance of the other members.

After that, there will be a chance to live together again?

Everybody: It never happens!

It would not have to be completely denied (Laugh). So, you can gather together only when having a concert. You joined the festivals a-nation and Summer Sonic in August. How do you think about them?

Minhyuk: It was fun! That says it all. I really had fun because it’s a chance to show our music not only our fans but also general people.

Jungshin: Since many bands joined in these festivals, we got inspired by them a lot.

Jonghyun: Since we experienced various festivals, we could come to be enjoyed the unique atmosphere offestivals. I enjoy the interaction with other Japanese band members.

Arena tour will be started from October.

Jonghyun: Our motto ‘Anytime to enjoy’ won’t change. Since it’ll be held in autumn to winter, we want to make our concert to be felt the sense of the season.

Minhyuk: It’s like the outside is cold, but inside the venue is hot. We hope the fans feel warm inside their hearts then.

The first place for your concert tour is the mecca of rock, Budokan.

Yonghwa: We are so proud that we can stand the stage of Budokan that has a long history. But our stance for music will never change. Since we will make unforgetable stage for the people who came our concert, we want everybody come to it. Here, say something, Jungshin!

Jungshin: Please come to our live, please~~!

Q1. What are you doing in order to keep your beautiful skin?
Q2. What kind of make-up do you like to have for a girl?

Minhyuk:

A1. I take lots of water. Not juice or tea, just water. And I try to use good quality moisturizing cream. Because I have dry skin, I have to moisturize to my skin.

A2 . It’s better to less is more, a gap between makeup face and no makeup. I like natural make-up . I don’t want to feel disappointed with unpainted face

Yonghwa:

A1. I drink a Chinese herb tea  brewed by my mother. I don’t know what kind of Chinese herbs in it though, I believe it’s good for my health and drink it.

A2. I like no make-up face or light makeup. I think it’s better not to strong eye lines. The man thinks so, right?

Jonghyun:

A1. I remove my makeup certainly. Because I was said that cleansing cream and oil disagree with my skin at a dermatologist, I remove makeup without them, wash my face twice. Wash my face thoroughly first, and next gently.

A2. I like light makeup. But if the girl does a sexy makeup, I might get excited.

Jungshin:

A1. I use moisturized cream every day and sleep well. I think sleep is the best for skin condition. When I slept well, my skin is resilient

A2. I don’t know about girl’s makeup well… Suffice it to say that I like better light eye makeup. I don’t like eyelash like false eyelash. It seems like bird’s wing.

CNBLUE John Yonghwa held his first solo fan meeting.

CNBLUE John Yonghwa held his first solo fan meeting “Sweet Melody” at Pacifico Yokohama Hall on Sep.21(sun). It had 2 shows a day, and 10,000 fans total visited it.

That event was started with the song ‘Feeling’ that Yonghwa chose from the fan’s request. Because it’s a popular song , fan’s voltage was getting hyper. And he sang 6 songs all includes ‘You’ve fallen for me’. He smiled and said “I heard the ticket for this event was sold out. I am so impressed. I want to hold a fan meeting like that again.”

He gave Key word talk from the initial word of “Sweet Melody” ‘s “Melody”. When the part of the “LO”, he laughed out of embarrassment with the video messages that was given from Lee Joon (MBLAQ), IU, Yoon Eunhye, CNBLUE member, Han Songho CEO, and close homeboy. “They look different from usual”

The part of “D” for “Drama”, The highlight scenes of ‘You are Beautiful’, ‘Heart Strings’ and ‘The future’s choice’ were shown. And when the scene of his last drama ‘The Three Musketeers’ was shown, he did a theatrical combat to the scene. It reminds us the face of as an actor ‘John Yonghwa’.

About his activity for the rest of the year, he said “I’ll release my solo album in the beginning of next year. Before this, There will be CNBLUE’s concert tour in Japan, and in Dec, we’ll have FNC Kingdom. Please look forward to them”. And then he sang ‘Try Again, Smile Again’ as a last song with a great smile.

2013 FNC KINGDOM IN JAPAN Fantastic & Crazy

On 2014, March 15th-16th FNC Entertainment, CNBLUE’s agency, held family concert entitled “2013 FNC KINGDOM IN JAPAN” for the first time. The concert be held for two days holding different themes which was “Fantastic Day” on March 15th and “Crazy Day” on March 16th, each concert was done according their matching set list. This was an event for all FNC artists gathered on one stage. At Nippon Budokan, all the waiting will paid off.

2013 FNC KINGDOM IN JAPAN Fantastic & Crazy March 15th Saturday / 16th Sunday 2014 Nippon Budo-kan
CNBLUE worked hard to be closing artist on the first day concert and opening artist for second day concert. Members presented their hits one by one, furthermore this was the first time they introduced Can’t Stop which was korean song to Japanese audiences. CNBLUE members run around at 360o stage that surrounded by fans freely and received alot of fans’ scream. Performance that full of energy made the venue as centre of happiness.
In the end CNBLUE & FT Island led the other FNC’s artists to wrapped up their concert, one voice to sing a song.
As label mate they were hand in hand, clapped and sang together and as part of “the eldest” in FNC, CNBLUE showed good example for their juniors.

SPRING LIVE “TRUTH” 2014, April 29th Tuesday & 30th Wednesday YOKOHAMA ARENA / 2014 May 20th Tuesday OSAKA – JO HALL

2014 April. CNBLUE released 7th Japanese single “Truth”, and held live performances “CNBLUE SPRING LIVE 2014 “TRUTH”. Concert held in May and took place in Osaka-Jo Hall and Yokohama Arena.

One of CNBLUE’s performances on 2013 was “CNBLUE ARENA TOUR 2013- ONE MORE TIME”and now they were come back after four months. During that time CNBLUE released new EP entitled “Can’t Stop” in Korea after a year. Either in Japan or Korea their new album always received warm feedback from Boice.

Concert was about to start; lighting went off, the blue ocean at the venue felt incredible. Dark stage when the member came into view as real silhouette, Boice’s scream also getting louder. Then Yonghwa shouted their first song “Time Is Over” and intro started almost at the same time they appeared under the bright light and it just like their usual stage, the whole venue surrounded by happiness. CNBLUE SPRING LIVE 2014 “Truth” officially started.

Followed up by “Diamond Girl” , “Intuition”, “LOVE” and they continued to pampered Boice with their hits single both Korean and Japanese releases. Boice kept screaming from the start of the show ‘till it reached the highest peak. In the middle of the show when ballad time, Jonghyun dominated the stage with the song he sang. In this moment Yonghwa show off his keyboard skill in some songs. Jonghyun with his soft voice and his guitar playing blended with Yonghwa’s husky voice, venue felt so melancholic.

In the middle of climax the most popular song “In My Head” was played. Yonghwa said “there something about this song,” and this time out of nowhere there big bang of firework! Bang! There loud sound and hot air covered by dazzling light. To respond the dazzling stages the member jamming together. Among 23 songs and Encore, the members show off their singing, screaming, dancing and running around the stage. There momento they were smiling, there moment they sing with all their heart, the whole venue moved by their music and gestures.

During encoré, at the last song “Love Light”, member’s voice and Boice’s blended together and created loud choir. As if all the people in the venue were united into one, one unity that full of happiness, just then the curtain dropped down. CNBLUE’s improvement in musical stage gave new feedback and incredible new experiences without boundaries. Moreover in the 2014 we can go deeper to wander around their activities.

“Still” Music Video Report

On the certain day of 2014, February, there photo-shoot for CNBLUE 7th single “Truth” and recorded MV for “Still” in one of the metropolis city.

That day in Kantos snow was poured heavily. Transportation had to have stopped as long as there snow fallen. Once the member gathered together and staff started the shooting as it sceduled. The weather is unfriendly but in contrary inside the filming set, the atmosphere is nice from thestart till the end, shooting ended earlier tan it should be buta ll wrapped up nicely.

During break, all of the member re-watched their DVD without thinking about their break time, they were curious about their performances.

To kill the time during the photo shoot, Yonghwa and Jonghyun did drama acting battle while Minhyuk act as their drama teacher to teach both of them.

CNBLUE manager’s Interview
What about CNBLUE’s daily life?

This time is our interview with CNBLUE’s Japanese manager, B-san!
As being the ones who close to CNBLUE, please tell us the real face of the member.

“Even thought it was your second appearances (on screen), but please greet BOICE JAPAN.”

CNBLUE be able to do World Tour and another big scale activity is because of everyone’s support, warm welcome, all the member feel like you guys are family. Keep support them okay?”

“Truth” has been released, did that effecting CNBLUE’s other schedule?”

During their world tour they keep writing song(s) and still doing their other projects, so there no effect at all.

“What about fan-meeting that will be hold soon?”

About fan-meeting, CNBLUE was like, “waiting the time to meet family”. So, please anticipate it.

“Among CNBLUE’s member, who the most greedy one when it comes to food?”

It must be Jungshin, he eats everything, before stage, during break, he will never forget about food.

“Among CNBLUE’s member, who messiest the most?
“Messy” but could it be ‘manly’ (reffering to a man usually mess people?) then it must be Jonghyun. Just like in this hotel where Jonghyun was staying, thats the evidence.

“Among CNBLUE’s member, who the stylish member the most?”
About that, it’s Jungshin. Since he has huge interest in such things, he always looking for the latest news and if there new releases he will be the one who own it very firstly compare the other.

“Among CNBLUE’s member, who is doing his everything accordingly?”

This is the good side of Yonghwa. He didn’t change his rhythm with anything else. He’ll complete a day’s schedule perfectly such eating, practicing and easily to sort anything that distract his concentration. We can say that he’s a great “Stoic”.

“Among CNBLUE’s member , who likes messing around the most?”
Aside of Minhyuk? He always look cool, but sometimes he’ll show a weird expression that make people laugh or did gyaru (Gal; one of Japanese’s girl make-up). Aside of his random time, he can also be destructive (not in the real way).

“B-san please listed CNBLUE’s member as your family.”
Jungshin is younger brother and Yonghwa is a father, mother will be Minhyuk since he is good doing chores and planning, he also organized and calm. He often reminds me stuff that I missed and also support me so much. Jonghyun is twin brothers. Because Jonghyun speaks Japanese, he was the one who relying the lattest information or discuss the things represent the other member.

CNBLUE Lee Jungshin on Ceci Magazine 2014 October Issue

Through the released of drama “The Temptation” Lee Jung Shin and Kim So Young met, seemed like reaching sort of ‘sweet less’ parallel theory’s prime.

“While not working means receiving lots of stress.” So fearful personality grew but as time goes by I am becoming more courageous. It is not an important time seeing my major commitment to them all. Sometimes when cameras off I still want to run and play like usual high schooler, I missed that time.

If there is a time machine, I should go to 40 years old Lee Jung Shin. Together with my wife, kids pursuing a happy home, I want to see that side of Lee Jung Shin.

CeCi: When the camera off a few times Jung Shin gave different suggestions. Is it usual for you to appeal actively giving your own feedback?

Jung Shin: I am sure that I am on a doctor expression. I like things like taking pictures also have interest in pictorial shooting. Today I want to do sexy feel pictorial. I got inspiration from Kimura Takuya pictorial for today’s concept that includes rose and water, that’s where gentle emotion collected through close up shoot.

CeCi: The drama which you shoot together “The Temptation” is coming to an end soon. During that time, did the two of you get closer?

*So Young: We align not breathing for two months is enough. First time we met it’s totally awkward! As we getting familiar to each other, Jung Shin always use honorific and so do I can speak easily to each other. After meeting four times, we barely talk comfortably. Even now, when I met Jung Shin he was fully attached to ‘Noona’ words. Jung Shin also has lots of thoughts, just like ‘old kid’.

Jung Shin: Right Man examples. (Smile) It’s always in the beginning, as maknae I am trying to be familiar with everyone, it’s a bit difficult because there are lots of acquaintance who are only one year difference. Although only one year difference, if it’s Hyung, it Hyung, is its Noona, called Noona, that’s how you have to do it.

CeCi: When looked at your SNS, you seemed to be playful with member Jung Yong Hwa.

Jung Shin: Because Yong Hwa Hyung is like my own Hyung, so I feel comfortable enough to make fun of him “Uri Hyung”. Not only on SNS, in the real life have we also done that.

CeCi: In the drama every other impaired seemed to be divided. Jung Shin character Hong Gyu’s girlfriend Sejin called him “Ddorai (Crazy)”, heard through her spit, how about both of your dating style?

Jung Shin: I am not the style that pursuit certain style of dating. I will be throwing jokes and not like Hong Gyu who mistreats her girlfriend. Around front of many people I won’t be please if someone looked down, so nowadays women like cold city guy like Hong Gyu. If I have a girlfriend I will be a caring boyfriend. But to celebrities we usually had a lot of consideration; thought of wanting to be in a relationship seems like huge greed.

CeCi: Aaaa, Stress! What do you do to relieve stress?

Jung Shin: Either taking pictures or talk with my own Hyung (older brother) to loosen stress. Both of us live together so we are ready our ears, although it’s late at night we talk in veranda.

CeCi: Since now you living with your Hyung so your adopted “Simba” and be your companion?

Jung Shin: Oh right. In our house there are three brothers with maknae (youngest), Simba. At first we want a Retriever but it’s too big, the Siberian  that we want is not available. So we choose to raise king (Retriever) that we want to raise long time ago. These days Hyung and I giving overflowing love to Simba.

CeCi: Both of you debut 5 years ago, mid 20s almost passed. What part of you that have been growing since then?

Jung Shin: Part where my obsession to great detail. Not as a perfect performer, but to a perfect performance. My hearts still like a high schooler, time flows for me and what important now I am having heavier responsibility, that’s how process to be an adult.

CeCi How much and which part of you that will praise yourself to be satisfied?

Jung Shin: I want to be generous to everyone, but I am very strict to myself. Through small mistakes I’ll receive great stress, everything that I do I want to give a round of applause but there are part of regrets that made me worry.

CeCi: In the present to myself what I need the most.

Jung Shin: Confidence. I am on the side where deviancy of confidence happens. If I don’t have confidence whatever I do won’t do any right.

CeCi What kind of role that I am greed to have in an agreement immediately?

Jung Shin: A character that needs huge emotional bond.

CeCi: September is Jung Shin’s birthday, October is So Young birthday. Any plans to celebrate it yet?

Jung Shin: In the dorm every time members birthday preparing a cake is a must. On birthday to birthday’s boy with serious voice always said “Big Trouble” then throwing surprised birthday party.

CeCi: When living apart from other members?

Jung Shin: I miss them at that time. When birthday party we just can see other again. The four of us has special relationship.

CeCi: 10 months passed after you shot CeCi 20th first issue. If you could give roses as present, how many will it be?

Jung Shin: 100 roses stalks. Since CNBLUE debuted, every year we’ve joined the bonds. Last year January spread <CeCi>, ‘till now Yong Hwa Hyung still have cover photos pasted in his working room, if we look at our figure at that time, I remember “so old school”.
