Jung Yonghwa (from CNBLUE)
Born in Busan, 1989. The leader of rock band CNBLUE, and compose almost songs as a singer songwriter. They started their activity under the indie in Japan and debuted in Korea in 2010. They debuted in Japan in 2011 after their concert at Yokohama Arena. Now, they make a world their stage. Yonghwa is drawing attention as an actor too.

“My solo activity in Korea was just finished.” He said so once he sat down on a chair with a relaxing expression. When we asked him that your first album got lots of No.1 on a music program, he answered “Yes, I took four awards.” with a shy smile. Even though he is able to show off his history, he always stays cool.
Just after their debut in Japan, they appeared the TV music program ‘COUNTDOWN JAPAN 11/12’ and ‘MTV unplugged’ and more, as a first Korean artist ever. CNBLUE had also first world tour as a Korean Rock band. And now, Yonghwa is widening his appeal as a solo singer who released ‘One Fine Day’.
“A vision for solo activity has started about 2 years ago. While I have composed a song for CNBLUE, I was getting stuck, and having a conflicted feeling. So I thought if I would make a song for myself, I could see new world.”
He joined to make all songs that he collaborated with musicians who famous from Korea and abroad. The form of featuring is more frequent in Korea if they want to join it, but he chooses the form of collaboration that compose and write a lyric to each other. Because it seems he is proud of his mind as a creator.
“Because I became to compose a similar song. But I had a chance to study more about composing while collaborating with several artists. All artists who collaborated for my album were requested by me. All of them are my respecters, so I enjoyed recording, and got inspiration.”
That’s what We call being him an Asian star, collaborate not only various genres of artists in Korea, but also JJ Lin who is a famous singer in Taiwan, Peter Marick in USA and TAKURO from GRAY in Japan. Especially, Yonghwa has promised with JJ Lin that trying to make a song together someday, and realized the promise of it.
“After making a melody, I have decided the main message for this song, it is ‘ I’m always on your side ‘. I think this theme was showed in the lyric, I wanted to try making a song that can help to someone. This is a special experience for me this collaborated song was accepted in Taiwan, China and Japan.”
‘Chekmate’ has the one strong message using by three languages, English, Chinese and Korean. JJ Lin appeared in this song’s MV and came to Korea for appearing on music program with Yonghwa.
“That was the first time we actually did a performance together. Since this lyric has the kind of strong message, we were talking that we have to call all our strength into singing. Actually, JJ Lin was perfect for this, even if it was in rehearsal, it made a big impact on me. The most impressed things for me was singing together in live across a language barrier.
Because Yonghwa has liked GLAY’s ‘HOWEVER’, He asked TAKURO to be let write a lyric. It is ‘I’m glad I loved you’ that is only for Japanese version of ‘One Fine Day’. We asked Yonghwa about this song’s lyric, he answered with his breathy voice.
“At first, I couldn’t believe that he writes the lyric for me, so I have felt very weird and expect. When I saw the lyric, I was really impressed with this, because it had hearty. And another thing, I didn’t talk him the detail of my image, but he made the lyric with the same image as I thought. That was really weird.”
Yonghwa’s looks is cool, but his passion for music is very hot. He has started his solo activity for expanding the activity from a Band. How does he feel this good response?
“A solo activity is like a my homework, but I think making a music without inhibition made my inside unwind. I believe that I can give me more leeway for making a song now and then.

Debut Drama Production “My Daughter, Seoyoung”, stupid youngest son, Kang Sung Jae, historical-drama “Blade and Flower” cute and upstage in the society, youngest Yowon, mini-series “Temptation” as spoiled and unemployed Nam Hong Gyu and first broadcast of one-act played based ‘Thank you, Son’ repeater Jang Si Woo. Every year one production, living as other person and lived their life even qualified as ‘Best New Actor’ Lee Jung Shin. On top of that, just few times ago, receiving Best Asia Awards, on one recording awards show receive an awesome “4 gold awards” as Korean Representatives Band, also as a personnel of CNBLUE. After debuting 5 years ago without rest and difficulty finally get a proper place now, and setting your way in music industry.
CeCi You usually use a dark tone clothes, do you caught in surprise by today’s concept “Pinky Boy“?
Of course not. If not this this I wonder when will I wear this kind of clothes. Because of that, it was fun to wear these clothes. I don’t know if it’s sincere or not, but staffs really dressed me well and I am happy about that. (laugh)
CeCi Recently the most issue is your drama “Thank you, Son”. It’s your first time as lead actor, please give us your testimonials and introduce your drama.
(After taking a deep breath) It’s part 2 of trilogy of one-act plays, it’s a family centered drama. As time goes, a life transition of a goldsmith’s life, it was at that time. Usually, I have lots of interest in one act-plays, opportunity finally came and I enjoyed the shoot so much. Among the actors, as a maknae (youngest) I learn from them. I had tried a novelty experience that cannot be compared to money.
CeCi If we look at your experience one year once! You did one drama per year. Perhaps you intended to do so? Looks like a great earnest student.
Haha! Is it possible if I intended to do so? (CeCi A drama a year, you must be pleased of fast-paced.) Without being arrogant, I am still lacking. To relieve the thirst of acting at least I did once per year but CN BLUE activities too was important, compared than before our world tour is more packed so we need to set a regulation. This year I’ve tried one-act plays drama, I hope I can do one more drama.
CeCi Each of your drama has different genre. Weekend drama, historical drama, mini-series, till one-act plays drama.
That’s what I said. It’s not much but I can learn each time I tried new drama, it was fun. Artist’s opinion is important and thanks to the company we get more experience and challenge, so along with the company I tried a similar form of role.
CeCi ‘My daughter Seoyoung’ Kang Sung Jae, it was quite awkward at first, but nearing the end you gave a contributions to the drama.
Oh God. . I had lot of worries, because it’s my first drama. ‘Kang Sung Jae. . . ‘ I want to people to remember the name ‘Kang Sung Jae’. I don’t care of what people said, I can’t see what people hear though. So, slowly striking basic scourged. Now I vowed to show my mature image as an actor.
CeCi Each of CNBLUE member had their own activities. What is your secret?
Not all production come out well, so I just need to remember what production is the best of all. If the rating is low, actors and drama are all submerged. Till now I had accumulated light experience and I don’t want to lose it. Gaining lots of stage experience is important.
CeCi Every interview ‘A Right Guy’. How about right guy Lee Jung Shin love feeling?
The woman that I can talk to although the same age as me or older than me. (CeCi in opposition what so not your type?) Liars! I really hate lies. Love, every time is always have a drought memory to me. What did I say now! (laugh)
CeCi If you did a relationship in space between, if all people are busy like top star relationship, really want to do it.
Right. How busy a person is all~ have to understand that relationships.
CeCi You are caught in March White Day. Please tell us you memorable memories.
(With serious gaze) White Day is the day that a man gives to woman right? (CeCi when doing a long-time relationship, you started to finish that kind of things. In reality, want to give something) Aa, I slowly dig my own grave. (laugh) Anyway I am not the type that giving presents.
CeCi If we did internet search on ‘Lee Jung Shin’, explain what come on top of the seach.
Perhaps~ Lee Jung Shin, Nam Joo Hyuk? (CeCi Right, somehow you have a deep relations with Nam Joo Hyuk.) HaHa! Lots of people said that both of us looks similar and I am curious of that, and finally we met in during fashion show. I felt strange. After that meeting JTBC <I’m Going to School> I met him again there, now ‘F2 Stupid Flower Guy’. I don’t know but during the recording, we monitored first broadcast and Joo Hyuk said this. ‘Hyung! We just appeared like imprudent guys’ and I think it will be more fun in the future.
CeCi Time passes by (Interview on February 8) ‘Golden Disk Awards’ (January 15 broadcast) you received 4 awards.
‘TOP CeCi Asia Icon’ it’s always happy to me. January last year, CNBLUE photo shoot cover and through destiny <CeCi> a vague relationship. HaHa! When on my way to practice room, if look into a framed picture of our cover all members feel proud. Earlier we received ‘China Goodwill Star Awards’ that was given to star who has done goodwill. CN BLUE has built a school in Africa, but in fact we received this awards thanks to our fans. With our names, we gave back to the society and an awards to all our kind fans. ‘Aichidi’ China movies site, we were selected through voting. (CeCi At first glance I heard that approximately 150 million vote obtained. That was a lot!) All of us were surprised, and extremely shocked. This year remarked our fifth year of debut, we are proud of all awards we received.
CeCi Recently is there anyone you want to write letter to? Today, starting from your parents to myself, please write a letter each.
<to. Parents> I always want to be a filial son. If there is something like hard work, along with worries I want to be a friend-like youngest son.
<to. My Hyung> My brother that only 2 years apart from me. Although we live together but we call and message each other so much sometimes as girlfriend will misunderstood. From now on we have to commit to each other and live happily.
<to. Girl person friend> I am such a rare person to discover around, girl (person). I cannot approach first so don’t be shy and please understand me.
<to. Virtual Girlfriend> Someday meeting Girlfriend! When the time comes I will treat you right.

2014 FNC KINGDOM IN JAPAN -STARLIGHT-
FNC artist performed together! They had a great stage on 2 venues and total 35,000 fans came
2014 FNC KINGDOM IN JAPAN -STARLIGHT- was held at Osakajo Hall on Dec. 27th after being held at Makuhari Meese on Dec. 20th, and it marked 35,000 fans for these two venues.
This was a second FNC KINGDOM for FNC entertainment, it consisted EMERALD STARLIGHT STAGE for daytime show and DIAMOND STARLIGFHT STAGE for the night time show. CNBLUE acted as a headliner for EMERALD STAGE and FTISLAND acted as a headliner for DIAMOND STAGE.
In the daytime show, FTISLAND brought the opening of the stage with ‘Beautiful’ and played ‘DISTANCE’ that got No.1 by fan vote. Hongki said that even Christmas was over, but I hope it would make warm your heart listening this song. But after singing ‘DISTANCE’, he broken the calm atmosphere, and excitation of fans, it was like to show his charisma.
4-pieces mixture rock band, N.Flying that they are planning their full-blown activity in Japan and Korea played three songs includes their new song ‘Knock Knock’. And Juniel who is the first singer songwriter of FNC sang three songs includes ‘I think I’m in love’.
The fourth appearance artist was AOA who debuted in Japan with ‘Mini-Skirt’ on last October. After they performed their debut song ‘Mini-Skirt’ with sexy black costume, they announced about their new song ‘Like a Cat’ that will be released on Feb. 25th. This is a Japanese version of 사뿐사뿐. Their further development is expected.
The collaboration stage was this event’s feature. Jaejin (FTISLAND) and Juniel sang ‘A Whole New World’, and Jimin (AOA) and Seunghyub showed the spicy and sexy stage. Jonghyun (CNBLUE) and Yuna performed ‘Lucky’ of Jason Mraz with mature atmosphere. Hongki (FTISLAND) and Choa (AOA) proceed to show keen stage singing ‘What I wanted to say’ that is the theme song of the bride of the Century and ‘Story’ of AI who is a Japanese singer.
CNBLUE started their daytime show with ‘Ring’ that is the song imaged winter. Yonghwa said “Honma ni Arigatougozaimsu (=Thank you so much/ He said this in Osaka accent) and sang some hot numbers. He sang ‘Foxy’ ‘s intro with Osaka accent, and enjoyed call and response with fans.
In the nighttime show, CNBLUE appeared as a first performer. They played ‘Ring’ first as same as the daytime show and played ‘Ryu Can Do It’ and ‘In My Head’. They said “a concert stage is my place! We are living for it!”, and played ‘Radio’ as a last song.
FTISLAND appeared as a last performer in the night time show. They showed their performance with their hot number like ‘FREEDOM’. Hongki said “We have experienced good things and bad things in this year. But this is all the same for us. So let’s leave only good things until we’ll die. We have to do ROCK to not regret next year too! Make some noise!” The fans became more and more hyper with his comment. They played ‘Flower Rock’ that was not planned in song list, but Minhwan proposed to sing it.
FNC artist showed the collaboration stage in both of daytime show and night time show. These mainly consisted of the band.
‘MochiMochi Band’ that was consisted by Yonghwa, Minhyuk (CNBLUE), Jonghoon, seunghyun (FTISLAND), Jimin, Yuna (AOA) and Kwangjin (N. Flying). They appeared under the concept of the guest performer of FNC KINGDOM, and they called their name to put ‘Mochi’ after each person’s name, it made fans laugh. They started their performance with ‘In My Head’ of CNBLUE, and kept performing a remix song with ‘I hope’, ‘Love,Love,Love’ ,‘Can’t Stop’, ’Love Girl’ and ’Short Hair’.
‘Sasurai Band’ that was consisted by Hongki, Jeajin, Minhwan(FTISLAND), Jonghyun,Jongshin(CNBLUE), Choa(AOA), Juniel, Seunghyub and Chahun (N.Flying) that was under the concept of the special band that was formed one month before and invited by FTISLAND and CNBLUE.
Fans were really excited with setting the situation that Hongki and Juniel are a couple of newlyweds and Johnhyun is the pickup truck driver. They sang a special remix song of ‘Short Hair’, ‘I hope’ and ‘I wish’.
At the end of the stage, all artists appeared on the stage and they performed together. Then 2014 FNC KINGDOM IN JAPAN-STARLIGHT-“ was successfully finished.

Tangled hair, powerless look, with naturally overlapped knit, although it’s kind of different from the usual Jung Yong Hwa that we knew, didn’t mean he becoming a hatred charm.

Sunny sunshine drenched on 1 in the afternoon, Jung Yong Hwa entered the hotel suite room that used for pictorial shooting with drowsy looks. Right after finishing drama <The Three Musketeers>, he is going to back to CF shooting and concert schedule ‘till he ended up with indigestion and look quite exhausted. But with that sleepy looking face somehow it seems perfectly fit with this pictorial concept. As he drank an Ice Americano he said, “today’s concept like I left my eyes after drinking much last night right? (smile)”.
Dream Production You have tried trendy drama, historical drama also, for next production what kind of movie challenge you want to take. I want to be in production and acting with senior like Choi Min Sik Sunbaenim, even it’s just a small role I would be grateful. I really want to see and learn how they acted. Always only with obvious color confidence and controlled type, I must try acting in a movie which directed by Director Bong Joon Ho.
Cool Guy These days was packed of American series <Game of Thrones>, the role Tirion played by Peter Dinklage leave impression to me. Because of inborn cartilage formation failure he stand tall only 135 cm, he could overcome it by absolutely natural acting and the charisma, that was awesome. Among CNBLUE members, the coolest guy is? Jung Shin profuse light strength is cool, Jong Hyun’s look is cool, Min Hyuk and I the four of us possess different style so I can’t choose. So you can pick me as the coolest of all (smile).
Usual Style Rather than new (up to date) clothes, I prefer comfortable clothes. I like thing with painting and like Maison Martin Margiela sneakers. Until now I have already tried exaggeration dramatic costumes during fashion photo shoot, for real I have no intention of using those clothes. Today’s pictorial shooting concept clothes truly my style. Tattered shirt old long pants, and knit cardigan made me a bit like Kurt Cobain style? But in usual every day life, I love to wear training pants.
Reality Program Although its acting or singing activity started again, it will always continue like that I really want to try doing Reality Program even just once. Through that program I think I can show naturally many different side of me. If I can only choose one among variety show, I will choose <Infinity Challenge>. I will partner with Haha and it will be a lot of fun. I also love Reggae music, last time music show along with Band 10cm the collaboration is very passionate.
Healing Time If I was given vacation I would like to go to Europe, probably the first place I would visit is Venice. The trip memories twist, a few years back during World Tour we visited a winery in Chile, sunny sunshine delicious food, till I can taste wine sweetness, through word “Fantastic”. Also when I was in middle school, I cannot forget when I went to Seattle with Mom. This year final breeze on Christmas I wish that I could go on holiday with my family.

CNBLUE Interview on Awesome Magazine Vol.14
This is the sequel of an interview with B-PASS Oct issue!
We want to interview about new front of Jonghyun’s lyric. This time, ‘Foxy’ that is the song you wrote which has so attractive lyric. This melody is funny, and arranged with various instruments, clapping sound and ‘fu~~’ chanting sound. The lyric is about a man who admire a sexy woman. By seeing only the lyric, I thought that was written by Yonghwa (Laugh).
Jonghyun: Ahhh, it might be.
Yonghwa: wait, wait. They have an image like that for me!?
Jonghyun: like that (Laugh)
This is because the image that Yonghwa is good at an escort for women than Jonghyun… (Laugh) It’s just
an image.
Yonghwa: See? It’s not a meaning that I am a philanderer. Yes, I’m a better hand than him.
Jonghyun: (bitter laugh) I’m enjoying composed this song. About the lyric, is this funny situation, right? It was different genre from I ever wrote though, I think it is like a challenge for me.
‘Monster’s lyric that you wrote has also your unique world vision. Recently you have more sense (diversity of musical sense) of composing a song than ever before, are you conciously explore your musical genre?
Jonghyun: I don’t stick a genre especially.
Yonghwa: Jonghyun makes a rap
Jonghyun: Oh, yes. It’s true that I like hiphop. Since each genre have good things, I think it’s interest in gather them. The best thing for us is making good songs, not to stick in one genre.
We want to ask you about a lyric. This ‘foxy’ ‘s lyric is for chasing a sexy women. We wonder how do you feel about that?
Jonghyun: Is that meaning about my love life? I’m not the kind of person to chase a woman. But I like sexy woman. I know the standards of sexy is different depend on the members. I like an imposing woman. I think a woman with great confidence is looks sexy.
Yonghwa: I don’t stick at nothing.
We know the standards of sexy is depends on the person. So what part of woman do you feel attractive?
Jungshin: smize! I think the person who has light in eyes is sexy, is attractive.
Minhyuk: I think eyes too.
Yonghwa: A motion that flip back hers hair!
Jungshin: That is just a gesture that a woman appeals to it for oneself.
What song do you like in this time’s album?
Jungshin: ‘Radio’! I interest the response from people who listened this song. It’s not joking, but I listen this song 7 times a day.
Yonghwa, Jonghyun, Minhyuk: 7 times! (Laugh)
Yonghwa: what is that tricky number as 7, it’s not 5 times nether 10 times (Laugh)
Minhyuk: Because I like all songs through the album, I don’t choose one. It suffices to say that would be ‘Radio’. We don’t have like this song ever, and I’m concerning about the feedback. I viewed in hindsight, I think that song become epoch-making song.
Jonghyun: Although I feel strongly about all songs, I dare I say it, the last song of this album ‘How awesome’. Even if I do say so myself, I wrote this lyric with great care.
This song has didactic lyric.
Jonghyun: Yes it is. This lyric says our feeling. I composed this song as our life like we have concerts everyday….I entitled it ‘How awesome’ because I think it is wonderful to live like that, and in a way, it is the message for fans.
Yonghwa: I’m going to choose ‘Control’. I wrote this song’s lyric with Jungshin and Minhyuk, It was very fun and good experience. We might never do that?! (Laugh)
Jungshin: in the last, we wrote this lyric on a bed, it was great experience for me. I am not sure that how did I could contribute to write a lyric, but I satisfied to join writing a lyric.
Yonghwa: Since that song is like a memorial song, also good song, I am happy if fans like that song.
Jungshin: In fact, we re-wrote lyric for chorus part, so it made that song became better. I enjoyed that process.
Your arena tour will starts from October. What kind of tour do you want to make?
Minhyuk: this tour is the first tour in Japan this year, so I want to do lots of things in this concert. We’re really look forward to the concert. We make this concert that fans will enjoy it!
Jungshin: This is a first tour since we released ‘WAVE’. We’ll show our new songs. And it has been 1 year since we had concert in Japan. Because we will able to meet fans after such a long time, we want to make this concert to enjoy. I hope I would say we had a fun time. Please come to our concert with your friends.
How will your experience that you had tour abroad be useful in the future?
Jonghyun: A concert makes us to develop more. These experiences build us today.
Yonghwa: The more we have a concert, the more I come to think what is a feeling of unity. I run on an idea from this question to next composing song. For example, I try to compose a song that has the stuff to groove, or try to compose a song which we can enjoy while playing the song. This is the good cycle for us. In a word, a concert is one of my part (life). It’s an important part without my body.
Jungshin: The life that going and coming back to overseas and home is a part of our routine now. It’s like a part of my life.
An instrument that you want to play
What is your first instrument?
Yonghwa: I started piano and clarinet when I was 6 years old. (Korean age) And a recorder too. I had learned various of instruments ever since.
Jungshin: I learned piano when I was child but I didn’t remember that. Maybe when I was 8 or 9 years old… Because my mom plays piano well, she taught me it… But I can’t play piano anymore. (Laugh)
Yonghwa: I look back about it, I had learned piano for 10 years…
Jungshin: sure?
Yonghwa: I think it was good for me for composed a song.
Jungshin: Since Yonghwa-hyeong plays piano very well, I envy him. I had learned also violin for 2 years though, of course! I don’t remember how to play it. (Laugh) And then I started playing a guitar when I was at 9th grader. Started playing a bass, it was after entering high school.
Jonghyun: Since I had been judo, playing a piano when I was at 10th grader was the first time to play instrument for me. I had not learned it by someone, I had just taught it myself. One day, after I watched a Eric Clapton’s video that he played a guitar, I wanted to try a guitar. I had also taught a guitar myself first. Since piano and guitar are completely different instrument, I really feel weird. About a piano, I can play chord though, it helps me to compose songs.
Minhyuk: Piano is my first instrument for me too. I started playing it when I was at kindergarden, and then I learned it by taking a class. I didn’t clearly remember, but actually I had been play a piano before entering elementary school. My mom made me to play it but I have enjoyed it 5 or 6 years. Since I wanted playing a flute, I started it instead of piano. I felt regret to quite a piano. Because, despite I had learned it for a long time, I gave it up completely. I started playing a drum when I was at 9th grade. Piano, Flute and Drum are different things as an instrument though, I can read a music and musical note and it helped me to learn drum. When I was child, I hadn’t dreamed of to be a musician. My older sister likes and she listen lots of music, this is one of the reasons that I like music. But I hadn’t thought I keep doing music.
Which instrument do you want to play from now on? Or if you have another life, what instrument do you want to learn?
Jonghyun: I want to play bass. A bass is important for band. This is the bassist that influence ability of a band. For learning a band, I keep learning to play a drum and bass.
Minhyuk: I want to keep learning piano until master it. I keep playing drum as one of my hobby (Laugh) I think the attraction of a band is to be consisted by gathering various instrument. So, if I have my other life, I would master piano.

Jung Yonghwa in drama ‘Marry Me If you dare’
Drama ‘Marry Me If You dare’ that was aired in Korea and became a big hit on 2013 will be released in Japan. We interviewed Yonghwa-ssi and delivered with the photo of each scene.

Yonghwa: Park Sejoo is the heir of Media chaebol, and is a grandson of CEO. Before succeeding to the chaebol, he is masquerading as a lowly cameraman in and works at television broadcasting in order to know the real life of the cameraman. He met Mirae there and got a lot of friends. He gets an ability for the CEO and for leading the members of the chaebol through various experiences. This is Park Sejoo.
You got high appreciation for your role as Park Sejoo in this drama, What do you think about it?
Yonghwa: I just did my best. I got appreciation by lots of people, got praise by articles and got fun’s support, so I could be shot without any trouble. I could get a courage that can be any role in another drama.
What do you think about Sejoo’s charm?
Yonghwa: He is kind. He is courteously attentive to other people, but he is harsh for work. This is his charm, I think.
Are there likes and differences between Yonghwa and Sejoo?
Yonghwa: Sejoo is the person in the chaebol and I am not. (Laugh) We have some similarities. First, we have similar characteristics, like cheerful and work hard. Next, we can consider a business and own private time separately.
Did you get some advises or requests from a scriptwriter or a director for this character?
Yonghwa: A scriptwriter and a director made a character along with us. And they said ‘Do what you want’. So I could act that I feel by reading the script, so I got high appreciation. It’s not a meaning that I made this drama myself, but I feel I made digested this character myself. I‘m happy in this point.
Sejoo and Mirae’s level of living seemed different. What is the reason that Sejoo was attracted to Mirae?
Yonghwa: The principal reason for it… Sejoo and Mirae met in Seju island though, I think Sejoo feel her freedom. Sejoo seems the free bird person, but he is the heir, there are not work out the way he wants. So Sejoo was attracted to Mirae at first glance. And then he knows about her while he gets his eye on her. He will become more and more loving her.
Which women is ideal type for park Sejoo, Mirae or Yoo-kyung?
Yonghwa: I think both of them are charming if they would add and divide by two. They have in common that they are cheerful. My ideal type is like that. So, I think both of them are charming.
We heard that the best popular scene in Japan is sharing a blanket with Mirae. What the scene that you were impressed ’till you shot?
Yonghwa: The scene that was I remembered that …the scene that I crushed on Mirae in Jeju island. The scene that seeing her going into the sea and go crushed on her was very impressive. And the scene that we are listening the music and in the record room was also the same.
The drama that you appear has something to do with music, but in this drama, you don’t have such connection, because this role was the heir of the chaebol. So we wonder that you had a hard time to shooting.
Yonghwa: I didn’t mean to appear only to a drama that has music as background. Because I am the musician, I didn’t want to act similar role. All the more I was attracted this drama, I thought Sejoo is the role that I wanted to act. Since I was confident acting this role, I decided to appear to this drama.
The interest of fans in Japan is your change in this drama. Do you want to focus on any part of Sejoo for people who watch the drama from now on?
Yonghwa: His effort to work while he gives heart to one woman. He has a charm as a man who will be a boss. Please support and love Sejoo as that.
What is the attractiveness as an actor, not as a musician?
Yonghwa: An actor would be express the other person through my body. It could be a person that is more attractive than me. It is the challenge as an actor that to act the attractive character that is different from me.
Have you contacted the other members while your drama shooting? What do they say about your drama if they watch this drama?
Yonghwa: Yes. Because we live together. They always told me they watched drama. They said nice things about it and support me.

Special interview with CNBLUE who will start the concert tour in Japan with their new album ‘Wave’!
Their involvement in the music world and themselves of each member, etc.…
Korean handsome 4 members rock band, CNBLUE. They joined a-nation and Summer Sonic in August that these are popular rock festival in Japan, and they showed their high music skill and performance to not only their fans but also to the music fun.
Their new album will be released on September 17th!
We talked about their new album, rock festival, and their concert tour that will be started from October.
What is the concept for your new album ‘WAVE’?
Yonghwa: In a word, ‘exhilaration that we feel’. This time, we made this song to have clear, fresh and refreshing image.
Minhyuk: All of songs that were composed by Yonghwa-hyeong and Jonghyun-hyeong are good as we couldn’t choose the lead song!
Jungshin: We were really thinking about it and finally chose ‘Radio’ that was composed by Yonghwa-hyeong. This song has the melody such feelings as running fast and the fresh sound, we could show our new dimension. And this is so cool song as I can image that we’ll jump with fans during our concert!
Yonghwa: I made this song that is rock and dancable with incorporating our taste into the trend of rock music now.
What is your memory for recording?
Yonghwa: This song has the chorus part like “wow wow~” though, the recording for this part was taken longer than I sing 1 song.
Who was to blame?
Yonghwa: Jungshin! (Everybody laughed)
Jungshin: Because I love this song so much, I felt became more and more hyper. I only ran around in emotional circles.
How many hours did it take?
Jungshin: 15 min?
Yonghwa: Huhhhhh?
Jungshin: Eh? It would be taken so, wouldn’t it?
Yonghwa: (Deep Breath) I can only say he worked hard for a long time.
Jungshin: ahaha.
By reading the lyric, it seems to be love song as well as not a love song…
Yonghwa: In my feeling, it’s like the feeling to reminisce about the analog days, not about a woman.
Minhyuk: But I think your (interviewer) point of view isn’t wrong. Our song sounds like a love song, but actually, most of our songs are like looking back ourselves or sing about painting a vision of the future.
Yonghwa: Exactly, in this time’s our album doesn’t have lots of love songs. ‘Still’ ‘Truth’, and ‘lonely night’ are love song that were composed by me.
Jonghyun: My composed song ‘How Awesome’ expresses the relationship of our fans and us. Depends on the situation or the feeling, our song has various faces, and it’s our lure.
Where do you write the lyric?
Jonghyun: In the airplane. Because we go to overseas frequently. The memo application on a cell phone is very useful.
Yonghwa: I write a lyric in the overseas hotel by using notebook at night. I wrote ‘Control’’s lyric in Japan.
If the environment changed, the idea could come into your head. By the way, let us know your ‘WAVE’ things after your album title.
Jonghyun: I am interested in a philosophy now. It is the question of human’s essential. The meaning that I am here now or the meaning I am alive…
Yonghwa: Aristotle ~! Socrates~.
Did you find the answer?
Jonghyun: If I could find the answer, I am not here (Laugh). I am looking for the answer while reading a book, search by internet and talking people. But the more I think about it, the more I don’t get to understand.
Minhyuk: It comes out soon. Because it is too difficult (Laugh).
Well, What kind of things is Minhyuk-ssi interested in?
Minhyuk: well… What is…
Jungshin: Ikebana! (Flower arrangement)
Ikebana!?
Minhyuk: Ahaha. I like flower. I get some flower from a market and arrange them myself. I learn to arrange them on my own, so I want to take a class and learn about it. Anything else I can say, I want to do clay shooting.
Jungshin: Minhyuk has a great deal of curiosity.
Yonghwa: He is on the way to find his own hobby. This is kind of the journey what fit for him.
Minhyuk: Yes I am. I want to find a hobby that I can keep it though my life.
Well, what is the WAVE that has come now among you guys?
Jungshin: ummmm, maybe nothing (Laugh) Because Yonghwa-hyeong and I are busy for drama shooting, we can’t take a time to do something with the other member.
Minhyuk: We used to play basketball together, but (pointing at Yonghwa and Jungshin) they don’t come back home at all.
Jonghyun: So, I am happy. Freedom~!
Jungshin: He said like that though, when we are not in a dorm with other work, he sends us a message ‘I love you’. Jonghyun-hyeong seems to get lonely easily.
Jonghyun: (with a serious look) Why do I send a message ‘I love you’ to members… oh, I run into a philosophical issue again. I can’t sleep today too.
Do you live together?
Jungshin: Yes. But we say it’s time to start to live apart.
Jonghyun: Yonghwa-hyeong and I live together for about 8 years.
Yonghwa: So long? It’s from I was 20 years old, so about 5 years, isn’t it?
Jonghyun: Oh? Sorry~.
If you lived apart, you would get miss to each other.
Yonghwa: I’d be better off on my own. Just kidding (Laugh). If we lived apart, it would be meaning only change the place that we sleep, so nothing will change.
Jungshin: If we lived apart for real, we would realize whether or not we miss to each other.
Jonghyun: We might understand the importance of the other members.
After that, there will be a chance to live together again?
Everybody: It never happens!
It would not have to be completely denied (Laugh). So, you can gather together only when having a concert. You joined the festivals a-nation and Summer Sonic in August. How do you think about them?
Minhyuk: It was fun! That says it all. I really had fun because it’s a chance to show our music not only our fans but also general people.
Jungshin: Since many bands joined in these festivals, we got inspired by them a lot.
Jonghyun: Since we experienced various festivals, we could come to be enjoyed the unique atmosphere offestivals. I enjoy the interaction with other Japanese band members.
Arena tour will be started from October.
Jonghyun: Our motto ‘Anytime to enjoy’ won’t change. Since it’ll be held in autumn to winter, we want to make our concert to be felt the sense of the season.
Minhyuk: It’s like the outside is cold, but inside the venue is hot. We hope the fans feel warm inside their hearts then.
The first place for your concert tour is the mecca of rock, Budokan.
Yonghwa: We are so proud that we can stand the stage of Budokan that has a long history. But our stance for music will never change. Since we will make unforgetable stage for the people who came our concert, we want everybody come to it. Here, say something, Jungshin!

Q1. What are you doing in order to keep your beautiful skin?
Q2. What kind of make-up do you like to have for a girl?
Minhyuk:
A1. I take lots of water. Not juice or tea, just water. And I try to use good quality moisturizing cream. Because I have dry skin, I have to moisturize to my skin.
A2 . It’s better to less is more, a gap between makeup face and no makeup. I like natural make-up . I don’t want to feel disappointed with unpainted face
Yonghwa:
A1. I drink a Chinese herb tea brewed by my mother. I don’t know what kind of Chinese herbs in it though, I believe it’s good for my health and drink it.
A2. I like no make-up face or light makeup. I think it’s better not to strong eye lines. The man thinks so, right?
Jonghyun:
A1. I remove my makeup certainly. Because I was said that cleansing cream and oil disagree with my skin at a dermatologist, I remove makeup without them, wash my face twice. Wash my face thoroughly first, and next gently.
A2. I like light makeup. But if the girl does a sexy makeup, I might get excited.
Jungshin:
A1. I use moisturized cream every day and sleep well. I think sleep is the best for skin condition. When I slept well, my skin is resilient
A2. I don’t know about girl’s makeup well… Suffice it to say that I like better light eye makeup. I don’t like eyelash like false eyelash. It seems like bird’s wing.
