[TRANS] CNBLUE Interview on Haru Hana Magazine Vol. 38

The new album, which was put their feeling of thank to the fans has been accomplished.

CNBLUE who marks 5th anniversary of their major debut in Japan will release their 5th album ‘EUPHORIA’. This album, which means happiness is the special one which was put their feeling of thank to the fans who spent 5 years together has been accomplished.

Yonghwa: Because this album will be release our 5th anniversary year, we made it with the theme of the feeling of thankfulness.

Jungshin: We are happy to have got the love from fans until now, and we are also happy if we keep offering a good music to fans. That’s why we named the title of the meaning of happiness for this album

 

—The lead song ‘Glory Days’ was made by Yonghwa, how did you make it?

Yonghwa: I wanted to make a warm atmosphere song to say our thankful message for fans. First, I wrote a lyric of that I wanted everybody to have a smile. We didn’t have any other choice as a lead song excepting this, because I made this song in consideration of the 5th anniversary from the start of making.

Jungshin: This is a good song for our 5th anniversary! This has a happy atmosphere.

 

—The album has 10 songs. Which one is your favorite?

Minhyuk: I like ‘Face to Face’, because its lyric is funny. And it has a medium tempo like ‘Don’t Care’ and ‘With me’ that Yonghwa-hyeong made before. It has various faces depending on my feelings.

Jonghyun: I like all of them, but I suffice it to say that ‘Be OK’, ‘Slavers’ and ‘Royal Rumble’. I made ‘Be OK’ and ‘Slavers’ for my solo. But if I made all of my composed songs for my solo, there would be no songs for CNBLUE. So, I decided those songs are for CNBLUE. I sang them myself first, but I thought Yonghwa’s voice suit them. Both of them were good.

Jungshin: I composed a song ‘Stay With Me’. I wrote ‘Daisy’ in English that has been in our previous album, but I thought Japanese fans were happy if I wrote a lyric in Japanese, so I tried it. I think Japanese is a romantic and emotional language. This song is a song that I put the message for the fans. Because fans are here for us, we were able to overcome big challenges. This is the message that we’ll support to each other.

 

—How did you have your recording process?

Minhyuk: We always record own part depending on oneself schedule.

Jonghyun: I gave an advise when the recording of the song that I made. I requested yonghwa to sing ‘Be OK’ to speak.

Jungshin: I was listening that Yonghwa-hyeong was singing my song ‘Stay With Me’. He‘s sung it to my image, and I was happy.

What do you want to say to the members when you look back at the past five years.

—This year is the 5th anniversary of your debut. If you named these 5 years like ○○days, what do you want to name it?

Jonghyun: ‘The days of my 20’s’

Minhyuk: How about ‘A short moment’ days? It seems 5 years are long, but look back it, it’s short.

Yonghwa: ‘Happy’ days for me. Because I had a happier time than hard time.

Jungshin: ‘We have a long road to travel’ days. I know that the 5th anniversary is one of an important event, but we can say it if we would have 10 year anniversary and 20 year anniversary. We still have a long way.

 

—Well, what do you want to say to the members when you look back at the past five years?

Yonghwa: I want to say to Jungshin that you grew in height than the time of the debut. To Jonghyun, challenge more to fishing (Laugh). And to Minhyuk, try to make a song

Minhyuk: I always thank to my elder brothers (Yonghwa and Jonghyun) making a great song. Although I haven’t joined to compose songs, I have never rushed and will never be. Now I’m satisfied to play CNBLUE songs.

Jungshin: I want to say to the members that I hope we’ll play together, even after 10 years, 20 years and 30 years.

Jonghyun: Thank you for your hard work, and we’ll go together.

 

—If you say to yourself in 5 years ago, what do you want to say?

Jungshin: I want to say myself that try to challenge a lot of things. When I look back at the time of debut, I could something like practice and more. And I want to say “ Be patient and win yourself”! (Laugh)

Yonghwa: I think I say “Envy you”. I had a hard time, but I think slightly that I want to go back. Because I was young, I could try to everything.

 

—The end of this interview, would you say a message for fans?

Jonghyun: Even though I’m not a special, Thank you for making me a person who can have a concert.

Jungshin: I wrote the lyric of ‘Stay With Me’ in Japanese for fans. I hope you like it.

Minhyuk: Thank you for being rooting us these 5 years. I hope we’ll make music and concert together.

Yonghwa: I am impressed many fans come to our concerts every tour. I wish I could have enough time to say thank you to everyone directly. Thank you!

 

★Personal interview

[Yonghwa] My nature of humanity hasn’t been changing by time

Q. The dance scene in your concert got good reaction, can we watch that again?
A. hahaha. If fans enjoy it (Laugh). Because I wanted fans to enjoy it, I might do that again. The things I want to do is an acoustic concert. If I have a chance, I’ll do it.

Q. You’ll appear the drama ‘The package’ in 2017, why did you decided to appear this drama?
A. This is the type of drama that we haven’t had in Korea, and I was attracted to this love story and the setting that the characters go to the trip. This is the warm story. I’ll stay in France two month for the shooting. I think it’s little bit long, but I’m exciting.

Q. What is your ‘First step’ in your life ever?
A. Started learning piano when I was 6 years old. My mom made me learn it, but this is the reason that I’ve dreamed to be an artist.

Q. What is the event that changed you?
A. Nothing special. I’ve changed adjusting to the real world as time goes along. But my nature of humanity hasn’t been changing by time

Q. Are you the type of person who can express the feeling honestly?
A. It depends on the situation. If I have to say something, I say. if I have to hide something, I do so.

Q. What is the thing that will save you when you have a bad day?
A. Nothing. Because I’m not a type of person who bothered myself.

Q. Please tell us that you and the other CNBLUE members are good for each other.
A. We have became good for each other while spend a time together. Especially we have similar tastes in food. Even if we had some issues, we would reach an agreement.

Q. What is your favorite food, one that you won’t get tired of even if you were to eat it every day? Is there something that you have been using from the child?
A. Coffee! I take a cup of black coffee every morning. I feel the start of the day when I take it. I haven’t been using anything from the child, but now my favorite is portable speaker. When I go the oversea, I exactly bring one.
Q. When you look a mirror, what do you think?
A. I have a slightly swollen face today…(Laugh). I check my condition when washing my face every morning.

Q. What is the things that holding yourself?
A. Nothing. I always do everything that I want to. I’m getting into preparing for new drama. Because the shooting is going to start soon, I’m memorizing my line desperately.

Q. Are you a type of person who always wants to meet a person you like? If you can’t meet, how do you express your feeling to a person?
A. I am a type of person who want to meet a person I like all the time. I know we can’t it all the time when I am busy at work, but I try to do. I want to send a selfie to each other.

Q. If you have farewell foreboding, You would say goodby first?
A. No, I can’t say goodby from me. If I was in this situation, I would wait to be say so. And I have no choice at that time.

 

[Jonghyun] I’m a simple person. I express any feeling honestly, except anger

Q. How was your solo concert in Japan?

A. I was happy and enjoyed it. Even I’m not a special, Thank you for making me a person who can have a concert. Thank you (Laugh). I sang using by hand microphone, because I wanted to concentrate to sing.

Q. Why are there some songs written in English?

A. Nothing special reason. But I think the atmosphere matches.

Q. What is your ‘First step’ in your life ever?

A. Buying a guitar. At first, I didn’t think anything, but I wanted to be cool.

Q. What is the event that changed you?

A. Myself. Even if I got the influence by reading books or watching movies, changing myself is myself in the end.

Q. What is the thing that will save you when you have a bad day?

A. I rarely feel blue, because I don’t think deeply. I forget soon the things that might be my stress.

Q. Are you the type of person who can express the feeling honestly?

A.Yes. I’m simple. I try to not get mad, but I express except it.

Q. Please tell us that you and the other CNBLUE members are good for each other

A. I already don’t feel like that. Since we are together these 10 years, I don’t think the compatibility any more.

Q. When you look a mirror, what do you think?

A. I think many things like too much drink last night, slightly swollen my face or something like that. I don’t think I’m handsome (Laugh).

Q. What is your favorite food, one that you won’t get tired of even if you were to eat it every day? Is there something that you have been using from the child?

A. Rice and ‘Ore no Humburg’ (The restaurant name in Japan). I used to eat at there like every day. I haven’t been using anything from the child. I’m a type of a person that I get bored soon.

Q. Are you a type of person who always wants to meet a person you like? If you can’t meet, how do you express your feeling to a person?

A. Of course I want be with the person who I like all the time. I try to contact with the person. I think I’ll do my best.

Q. What is the things that holding yourself?

A. It’s not fishing (Laugh). I went to fishing every day even in Japan though. I got about 30 sea basses. Because I don’t like boredom , so I try to find something fun. I think what do I do today, every morning. I can say that I’m under the control of joy.

Q. If you have farewell foreboding, You would say goodbye first?

A. I don’t say from me. I think if I had farewell foreboding, the other person would realize it. But if we are going to break up very fast, I might as date her at all.

Q. You had solo fan meeting in Japan. How was it?

A. I was surprised because many fans came out to the event, in spite of it was my first fan meeting. I was impressed everything, but especially I enjoyed singing by myself.

Q. You’ve been started to preside at Music Bank from this Summer. How do you appreciate yourself?
A.  Because it’s only short time since it has started, It hard to appreciate myself. But I enjoy it. Solbin who preside together is a dependable person. I try to introduce musicians.

Q . What is your ‘First step’ in your life ever?

A. My first step is becoming a family born to Kang family. Because of having my own family, I came into the world and learn a lot of things. And I’m here now.

Q. What is the event that changed you?

A. I think I’m always changing. I can learn, realize and be influenced while I come in contact with many people. I keep changing myself by being influenced by people than the nature and some things.

Q. What is the things that holding yourself?

A. Work out. I think it’s important in my life. Working out helps us to cheer up our tired mind.

Q. Are you the type of person who can express the feeling honestly?

A. I’m a type of person that I express my feeling to my close friends.

Q. Please tell us that you and the other CNBLUE members are good for each other

A. 4 pieces that has different characters gather, and perfected CNBLUE. We are good for each other.

 

[Jungshin] Becoming the member of CNBLUE, it makes me strong.

Q. You appears the drama ‘Cinderella and four knights’ in Korea. Are there some untold stories?

A. We are almost the same age, I enjoyed the shooting. I keep in touch with Jung Ilwoo hyeong and Park Sodam. My role is similar to me.

Q. Please boast about your dog Simba!

A. I have wanted to have a Golden Retriever for a pet, and he came my home two years ago. He gives me a smile and happiness. I love him and think as a family. That’s why I post his photo and video on SNS. It’s like parents who post their child’s photo on SNS (Laugh). We are said to look alike, though, we might more alike while we are together. When I can’t go dog-walking, my elder brother goes for doesn’t get a stress.

Q. What is your ‘First step’ in your life ever?

A. When I was a trainee, I bought a bass guitar with my money for the first time. I was a student and not have enough money at that time, but the bass guitar was 1 million won.

Q. What is the event that changed you?

A. Joining CNBLUE. I was weak, but joining CNBLUE was one of a chance that I turned out to be strong.

Q. Are you the type of person who can express the feeling honestly?

A. I am a really honest person. Of course I control my feeling in public. When I talk with close friends, I say something honestly, it might make them hurt. But I think I have to express the feelings.

Q. What is the things that holding yourself?

A. My parents and Simba. Simba is one of my family who accepts my too much love.

Q. Please tell us that you and the other CNBLUE members are good for each other

A. We haven’t been having any trouble with the time of choice a food menu because we have similar favorite.

Q. When you look a mirror, what do you think?

A. I need to be more stronger.

Q. What is your favorite food, one that you won’t get tired of even if you were to eat it every day? Is there something that you have been using from the child?

A. Beef. The other day, I went to Osaka and ate meat. They were delicious!

Q. Are you a type of person who always wants to meet a person you like? If you can’t meet, how do you express your feeling to a person?

A. I know it’s best that we can see all the time. But if we can’t see each other, I control myself. I don’t get stress because of it. I keep contact with her, but I’m not a person that always want to check my cell phone.

Jungshin: Yonghwa-hyeong had 12mm and mine was 10mm

Lee Jonghyun (from CNBLUE)

Jonghyun made his solo debut followed on Yonghwa from CNBLUE. The lead song of his solo debut album as a guitarist Jonghyun was SWING by big-band! He doesn’t play a guitar, but he dances in MV. Jonghyun, who tried new music style, told us his ruling passion.

“I’m an adult to admire child. I want to live more free”

26 years old adult who want to be pure. But we close up his view on love.

Yonghwa and Jonghyun. Both of them are vocalist and guitarist of CNBLUE, but they have an opposite temperament about their own music or stage performance. Jonghyun revealed long-awaited his solo debut followed on Yonghwa. Yonghwa composed all of songs for own solo album, but Jonghyun decided ‘SWING’ as a lead song that was composed by overseas composer.

“Because I didn’t think I could make a song like this, I chose this song. I think Swing is gorgeous and has an atmosphere of adult. In fact, there were 2 songs that we want to put as a lead song, and our staff recommended ‘Moonlight Swing’. I just respected their opinion because I stick nothing.”

Jonghyun wrote a prince who escorts a princess perfectly as a main character. And this lyric is very sweet that we never know as a CNBLUE.

He showed his lovey-dovey way with Gong SeungYeon in the Variety TV program in Korea ‘We Got Married’ tho, does he always do like that to a real girlfriend?

“I do like that for my lover. I only act gently in front of the girl I like. You know, the man who is gentle for every woman isn’t real gentleman. Because it is not kind if they make women to confuse, right? I wrote this lyric while I remembered my pure love. I’m living while I even want to be pure now, but I already 26 years old. I’m different from before, ain’t I?

Peter Pan appeared in his lyric. He explained that he wanted the character that everybody know, and Peter Pan is the pronoun who is dreaming.

“I’m an adult, but I pretend to not an adult. Well… I’m a man who wants to be a child. Don’t you think an adult is too much thinking? I suppose that It’s better we live simplier”

The songs that were composed by Jonghyun were 4 songs out of 10 songs in his album. He almost chose the songs that was composed by overseas composer. And more, he covered ‘I Love You’ by Yutaka Ozaki (*Yutaka Ozaki is a famous singer in Japan). His album has the world of various sounds.

“Because I thought that it was going to be a curious album than I composed all songs, I chose songs that not composed by me. There is a Blues that I like in my composed songs. I composed this song 2 years ago for CNBLUE, but members said that it was better to use for a solo. The songs for solo doesn’t have an impression different from the songs for CNBLUE, because I composed them both. It’s same at a base. This is why I chose the songs that were composed by overseas composer. I didn’t have a chance, but I want to make a song with another artist as a collaboration next time.”

Although he said not having a ruling passion, it could replace the word ‘flexibility’, and this flexibility might express Jonghyun. He also doesn’t have a ruling passion for guitar.

“I don’t have a ‘must use’ guitar. I lend my guitar that I used in CNBLUE’s concert mainly to Cha hun of N.Flying. I think it’s better to practice with various types of guitar for the young. Even if it is my precious, I don’t care. A guitar is just a guitar. (Laugh) It doesn’t mean that only an expensive guitar makes a good sound. Most important is a heart more than a good instrument or skill.”

Lee Jonghyun Interview by Steady. August 2016 Issue

“I want fans to enjoy the music and me that are different from CNBLUE”

We must become happier when we found the reason for trying hard.

 

How did you feel when your solo album release decided?

I decided my mind because lots of fans have asked me “don’t you do solo debut?”. In fact, I thought of taking some time off for a while since I worked a lot as CNBLUE last year. But members who still work hard told me “work well, not only fishing or trip.” (Laugh)

How is your album?

I wanted to make this album different from CNBLUE one. So, I asked an author to make a song. I think it’s a variety of albums.

The sweet and gorgeous scenes that all women long for are portrayed in the lead song ‘Moonlight Swing’.

At the first, I had the image like fairly story, but I added the theme of love for it.

This album makes us feel heal and cheer up.

I think a song doesn’t relate to an intent of a person who made a song. I sometimes make a happy song when I feel sad, on the other hand, I make a sad music when I feel happy. There are variety songs in this album, I want fans to find a favorite song.

How do you think the older women who work hard and strive for self-improvement?

Cool. I have an image that Japanese ladies are hard-working. But I feel sad when I see the ladies who are having big stuff. Working hard is respectable things, but I get worried if it would be the only things for her. I think we must become happier when we found the reason for trying hard.

Is there any chance to get excited by the gesture of the older women?

Wonderful women are a wonderful. Anywhere, anytime.

You are said to seem cool in CNBLUE, but, what do you think about it?

Since I am not easily nervous. But, I am like a fifteen-years-boy with members. (Laugh) I wonder I am not a person who is sweating the detail (because of too nervous).

CNBLUE Interview in Mini Magazine 2015 May Issue; “WHITE”

CNBLUE Mini Mag May 2015 WHITE
We are telling you what is going on in CNBLUE with their last single CD in 2015!!
CNBLUE appeared on mini magazine after such a long time. We interviewed their latest news including solo activity.

Question *(CNBLUE was given 10 questionnaires and they answer it randomly as they pleased):

1. What did you eat yesterday?

Jungshin: We went out for eating Ramen last night. So, my face is puffy with it.

2. What have you been on your holiday?

Yonghwa: I have not had holidays recently… So, I want to have holidays… (Laugh)
Minhyuk: Since I don’t like a cold season, I stayed in my home. But Spring already has come, I have to wake up (Laugh)

3. What did you surprise to?

Minhyuk: The experience in Laos and Cambodia for TV program’s shooting. I was able to experience of difference the life and culture.
Jonghyun: When the shooting for MV, it was a rainy day, but it was used a convertible for it. So, I made a lot of noise to raise my spirits (Laugh)

4. What was your rare experience recently?

Yonghwa: Releasing my own solo album. Since this was the first time for me to all work myself, this has been the rare experience.
Jonghyun: Watching the production process of Yonghwa’s solo album. It was fun watching someone play a guitar.

5. What did your last cooking?

Yonghwa: I made sunny side up for lunch. It was so so (Laugh)
Jonghyun: Ojingeo-poskunppa (오징어볶음=Sweet and Spicy Saute of Squid) I am good at cooking actually.

6. What did you laugh about?

Minhyuk: It’s not a loud laugh, but we always laugh when we get together.

7. Who is your highly recommending artist and song?

Yonghwa: Bruno Mars and Mark Ronson. I went to see Bruno Mars’s concert in Korea.
Minhyuk: Kim Kwangsuk-ssi.
Jungshin: Jung Yonghwa who has released his own solo album! And I like Coldplay.

8. Do you have some changes about the musical environment around you?

Yonghwa: The environment hasn’t changed, but my feeling changes every single day. What’s my feeling now? A secret (Laugh)
Minhyuk: Since I can relax myself, I like the slow tempo song. But I came to listen an electro, hard rock and hip hop recently.
Jonghyun: Sam Smith and White Snake. I’ve listened old song, ‘Crying In The Rain’ by White Snake is so cool!
Jungshin: My fans gave me a bass guitar, recently. I’m very happy with it.

9. What do you want to brag to the members?

Jonghyun: I’ve made about 30 songs within a week (Laugh).
Jungshin: My dog Simba’s weight is 28kg at age 7 months! Is this worth brag? (Laugh)

10. What do you want to say to members with using just one sentence?

Jungshin: When we have each own solo activity, I feel lonely to not meet them! This is true!

Your new song ‘WHITE’ that was composed and wrote by Jonghyun and Yonghwa is so cool!

Jungshin: When I heard this song, I thought Jonghyun-hyeong can make a song such as it. This was surprising for me.
Minhyuk: This was different from our song ever. Since this has lots of synthesized sounds, I thought this was surely our song? (Laugh)
Jungshin: Jonghyun-hyeong had already put the synthesized sounds from the time it was a tentative song. That sounds were fresh for me!
Jonghyun: I haven’t wanted to put synthesized sounds in this song at first, but I tried to make it what I want while I composed. I have thought that if fans thought this was not like CNBLUE, but finally, I was able to make a good song for a concert.
Jungshin: I always say this, but I am excited about how this song works for our concert!
Yonghwa: oh~~~, good comment (Laugh). I think this might a song different from so far, but this is good for us to try something new.
Jonghyun: When we had a concert at the end of last year, I thought I wanted to have more exciting. If fans heard this song, they surprised and might think that Jonghyun got the crackers (Laugh).
Jungshin: Everybody knows that~ (Laugh).
Jonghyun: Yes, I am insane (Laugh)

The lyric is powerful, isn’t it?

Jonghyun: The lyric has a profound meaning. The lyric has a profound meaning. This song’s sounds is good for a concert, But I think if I wrote a lyric like mild, it would be too much. So, I wrote this lyric philosophically little bit.
Yonghwa: We have decided the concept of this album ‘color’, and then we thought about the lyric.
Jonghyun: There are light’s three primary colors, and it became white if we mixed them. But if we mixed all of colors, it became a black. I got an idea from there and wrote a lyric that we can live more simply.
Yonghwa: We choose ‘WHITE’ because it has a meaning of ‘Light’
Jonghyun: I’ve been get stuck how I should simplify expressions.
Jungshin: I was surprised about this lyric because they don’t seem to write such a lyric.

What do you imagine from ‘WHITE’?

Jungshin: Pure and young
Jonghyun: Fresh
Minhyuk: I have an image like clean.
Yonghwa: An innocence. The clean person.

You’ll have a concert in Osaka and Yokohama in this April. Do you think that there are some changes for CNBLUE’s activity after each solo activity?

Jungshin: Since we have an had experience together, I haven’t changed anything.
Jonghyun: When I have been in my solo activity, I’ve felt lonely sometimes. Gathering together makes me happy.
Yonghwa: We can help each other if we gather in. I think it’s cause to synergy effect when we stay together.
Minhyuk: I think having lots of experience is good for us, and it helps our activity in invisible form. But I’m not sure how it affects CNBLUE concretely. I might be changed something through the upcoming concert (Laugh).

The band CNBLUE who is popular not only by women, but just music fan.
This is the third time to appear on CanCam, they told us about the passion for their Japanese 9th single “WHITE” and their thinking as the men of 20’s.

We want to know their ‘WORK’ and ‘LOVE’

Trying to be an actor, MC and for a variety program. Yonghwa’s solo activity. They widen their appeal now.
We asked them about their work and love.

-JongHyun who attract fans with his high technique of guitar and passionate ballad song.

Their latest song ‘WHITE’ was composed by Jonghyun, and this is unusual,l but he composed this song an up-tempo number. Now he appears a drama and variety TV program WGM.

WORK:

Q1. How is your role in the drama ‘Orange Marmalade’ that will be aired in May?

The original piece is web cartoon. My part is a vampire who likes a human girl.

Q2. What do you enjoy now excluding a band activity?

A music activity is not a work, but a hobby for me though… I enjoy a martial arts, going to a gym, surfing and golf! I went to snowboarding in a winter

Q3. If you could make a group with FNC member, who would you choose?

FTISLAND’s Minhwan and Jaejin, and I want to sing a blues! Our lesson studio is next to each other. It’s okay if I will sing it, but Jaejin and Minhwan are good at singing too.

Love:

Q1. There will be such a special thing if you go out with me.

I’ll do anything for you! I’ll cooking for you, I’ll go and see you even if where I am in.

Q2. When you will get married someday, what do you ask three conditions for your partner?

The person who can respect and growing with each other. I think this makes my life beautiful. Next, the person who understands my work. We would feel lonely for each other when we work in this kind of work. But I want my partner to understand it and support me. And last one, a beautiful woman! (Laugh)

Q3. What CNBLUE’s song do you want to hear when you have a fight with your partner?

‘Blind Love’. Because I feel sad if we’ll break up, it seems like to say “be patient”. (Laugh)

Jung Yonghwa who is the producer debuted in Korea and Japan.

He is a main vocalist who has the talent of composed song and write a lyric. Since he is honestly like a boy, he is loved by lots of fans. He has revealed that he loves ‘Simpsons’, he has a huge number of Simpson goods. Now he has his solo concert tour and CNBLUE’s WHITE tour in Japan.

Q1. You have your solo activity with your 1st solo album ‘One More Fine Day’. If you would give yourself a grade, what grade?

100 points! I have felt satisfied with it. My solo concert at Budokan will held on May 6th, please come there!

Q2. There were various genre’s songs in this solo album. Which song is the most like you?

‘27 years’ Because it shows my candid feeling in my past.

Q3. If you were a drama producer, what kind of role do you want for yourself?

Well… what will I do… A main character of Love story(Laugh).

Q1. There will be such a special thing if you go out with me.

I’ll make a song for her. It might not a ballad!?

Q2. After one year passed on the 1st anniversary of dating, what will you do?

I’ll have a same date in a same place when we had first dated.

Q3. When you will get married someday, what do you ask three conditions for your partner?

A person who understands my work. A down-to-earth person. An earnest person. These are my credits.

Q4. When you will go pick up your girlfriend with an umbrella in a rainy day, what CNBLUE’s song do you want to listen?

‘Love Light’! When I will go to see my lover, I would feel exhilarated listening this song.

Minhyuk who active in variety TV program, and as an actor! When he plays a drum, he is just a MAN!

He widens his appeal in variety program, recently. His atmosphere is usually cool, but it’ll be aired his crying expression in ‘Brave family’ in Korea. He would get attention if he cast in a new drama in 2015.

Q1. How was the shooting for ‘Brave Family’?

You can see my unrevealed me(Laugh)

Q2. What is your ideal drum sound?

The sound that can match with a song. I can’t choose one kind of sound, but I think the sound that was in the last ‘WAVE’ tour was the best. I like the sound that sounds like separate one by one.

Q3. If you could make a group with FNC member, who would you choose?

FTISLAND, Minhwan. He plays drums and I want to play another instrument. Although I can play only flute and piano…(Laugh)

LOVE:

Q1. There will be such a special thing if you go out with me.

I am kind, I like a trip… If a woman would go out with me, she might feel comfortable. I must be fit for marriage! But in a romance… I might not an interesting man (Laugh).

Q2. After one year passed on the 1st anniversary of dating, what will you do?

I don’t like any anniversaries… But every single day that I meet her is my anniversary for me (bashful)

Q3. When you get married someday, what do you ask three conditions for your partner?

A woman who says a family is important affair! I don’t hope any other things.

Q4. When you will go picnic with a lover in a sunny day, what CNBLUE’s song do you want to listen?

‘Lady’ and ‘Radio’.

Jungshin, is the youngest member who is loved by other members. He also active as an actor.

The youngest member who likes sandwiches and chocolate is like a sun in CNBLUE! Now he emcees on the ‘M COUNTDOWN’ that is three major TV music program.

Q1. You have a good reputation for your one shot drama ’Thank you, my son’ , Do you feel your growth of acting?

I’m not sure, but I don’t satisfied about it. On the other hand, when I saw a DVD ‘WHITE’, I feel my development about my performance.

Q2. If you were a drama producer, what kind of role do you want for yourself?

The person who gets lonely easily, and shut oneself behind closed doors!

Q3. If you could make a group with FNC member, who would you choose?

CNBLUE!

Since I’m tall, you can feel like a cicada when I hug you (Laugh)

Q2. After one year passed on the 1st anniversary of dating, what will you do?

As same as Minhyuk, I don’t like a woman who makes an anniversary like ‘today is xx anniversary’ (Laugh)

Q3. When you get married someday, what do you ask three conditions for your partner?

A person who loves only me. A franky-like person. A person who keeps a straight thought in one’s mind!

Q4. If you will be jilted by your girlfriend suddenly, what CNBLUE’s song do you want to listen?

‘Eclipse’ It matches with sad feelings.

CNBLUE members are so close! When they come back to home, they are just 20’s boys. So, we ask them their private by using A to Z.

Q. Who does have the highest ability of XXX in the members?

Yonghwa: I’m the best singer in CNBLUE (Laugh). This is because I am a vocalist! Hahaha! Eh? What is the most inferior in the member? Ummmm, Nothing!

Q. Who is the members who has a childish battle?

Jungshin: Deciding menu for a meal! (Laugh) Jonhyun-hyeong and I have a battle that what we eat. In the end, we decide to take a meal in several restaurant each other or I take a step back, because I am a kind person and younger than him.

Q. What is your habit?

Jonghyun: Fidgeting my leg… I don’t realize while doing it, but my manager says me ‘stop’ (Laugh) This is not because I am stressful. I do it

Q. Who can drink a lot?

Minhyuk: Yonghwa-hyeong! In other side, Jonghyun-hyeong does not drink a lot. Sometimes we drink together, it is very fun. (Laugh) But all members are not a type of taking over drunk, so please relief about it!

Q. What have you enjoyed recently in private?
Jonghyun: Snowboarding.

Q. What clothes did you get recently?

Jungshin: I just went shopping for a while, I bought 2 hats and wide pants. When the moment I look, I bought them.

Q. What the gift that was given by the members is the best for you ever?

Yonghwa: I got Korean ginseng from Jungshin. I don’t like it especially…, but he said it works for my body condition. I wonder I was seemed tired… (Laugh)

Q. What is the thing that is always in the fridge?

Minhyuk: Well… Alcohol? I just say we don’t drink a lot though…(Laugh) I like to drink just a can of beer or a glass of wine.

Q. If you have your own home someday, what interior would you want to?

Yonghwa: It is not about interior, but about designing, I want to build the home that has an open ceiling space even that would 2nd floor or 3rd floor. Because I think it would get lots of sunlight and comfortable.

Q. What kind of hobby’s group do you want to join in?

Minhyuk: I have not joined in it yet, I am interested in shooting now. I was looking at club by internet.(Laugh) But I worry about I can adjust it.

Q. What kind of dog do you have as a pet?

Jonghyun: A poodle and a Pomeranian! A name for a girl is Shiro, and for boy is Tan. Because there are two dogs in the home, It is hard to clean their mess. But they are very cute though. (Laugh)

Q. If you make an impromptu about a member, What three key words do you use for it?

Jungshin: I want to make an impromptu for Minhyuk…! Well, first of all, a hairstyle! And then, you are not funny! We yearn for love(Laugh). How about it?

Q. Do you want to marry?

Jonghyun: I’ve thought I’ll be married late or very early! But now I don’t get married, So I think I’ll get married later in my life. My ideal couple is like a friend! Since we’ll live together 20~30 years, I would die if I got excited everyday (Laugh). If there will be a woman who can make my life bright, I’ll be married someday.

Q. Who become hyper when at a night?

Minhyuk: This is….ME! (Laugh). But not only me, but all members come to hyper at a night than daytime. This is not a meaning that we go anywhere to hang out. We make a song, act funny (Laugh) We are energetic.

Q. What is your recommended seafood in Busan?

Yonghwa: Eh~! These are same as Seoul. There is not especially famous thing. Ummm, Hagfish?( 꼼장어) It seems like eel, and we BBQ it. I think it is tasty.

Q. What is a staple dish when you practice instrument at a night?

Minhyuk: Pettitoes…?( 족발 ) it’s a popular dish in Korea that is cooked with soy sauce and sugar. Because it’s healthy and mild taste, we often order it.

Q. What do you want to ask your fans?

Yonghwa: Question… umm… Oh, I want to ask them what CNBLUE’s song is the best for you? I wonder what song is popular. I want someone count it.

Q. If you got rain suddenly, what color of umbrella do you buy?

Jungshin: Clear one! Actually, I went shopping earlier, and I bought a clear, plastic umbrella! It’s rare to sell a clear, plastic umbrella in Korea.

Q. Do you have some scary thing even you are grown up?

Jonghyun: I’m okay with a haunted house, a roller coaster (Laugh). Well…I’m okay with cockroach too. Even I don’t like it though. Let me see…… I am scared myself. The scariest thing is human! Ah~, this is profound(Laugh)!.

Q. Do you have a song that you want to play in FNC Entertaiment?

Minhyuk: Suffice it to say that I choose FTISLAND’s ‘Flower Rock’. But I think it is too hard to play for me(Laugh). Minhwan’s drum play is well than me.

Q. If you try something in 2015, what do you want to do?

Jonghyun: I want to go to a trip! And actually I have a plan to go to Russia. I want to ride on the Trans-Siberian Railway. Of course, I won’t forget my guitar and amp. Oh, I want to put my metronome and pick in my bag. I put everything in my bag. koukyuuhinn ..(Laugh)

When you visit your parents, what do you bring with you as a souvenir?

Jungshin: A tasty food~. When I went to Jeju island, I sent a cutlass fish to my parents. A cutlass fish is luxury food in Korea. My parents said thank you to me, I was happy.

Q. If your member make a wish come true, what do you do?

Yonghwa: Eh~~~, I don’t have any wish(Laugh). I want to grant members wish!

Q. What is an animal, you want to kiss & hug?

Minhyuk: A cat! I like a dog too. I pet two cats, they are really cute! Name? Koong tdatda and Chichi.! I named them from the sound of drum make.

Q. What is the delicious that you ate recently?

Yonghwa: Hakata Ramen with 4 times hotness comes with seaweed, I ate yesterday! And I like meat and pizza(Laugh). I like to eat supreme pizza with coke.

Q. Who is a good riser in the members?

Jungshin: well…. I sleep well than other members… Who is…? I’m not sure(Laugh)!

Who nag most?

I am… I don’t say actually, but I nag in my mind(Laugh) I say to members about playing instrument. (Jonghyun)

What did you surprised about?

When I go to overseas, I entrust Simba to my parents. After one week passed, I met Simba, he grow up than I thought…(Laugh). (Jungshin)

Everyone said Jungshin tossed and turn in his bed.

What is the song that makes you and fans smile?

When I play ‘You’ve falling for me’, it raise my spirits! (By Jonghyun)

Do you think what is the members’ charm?

“Everything! Since they are my little brother! They are cute whatever they do, every day. Anyway, they are cute(Laugh). (By Yonghwa)

What is the song that members and fans make happy?

“Let me see…’I’m Sorry’!. This song makes an atmosphere awesome when a concert. Really feel fun (By Yonghwa)

What is the song that you almost cry when you play at the concert?

“Starlit Night’. When I sing this song on encore, I through back past, and then I almost cry…! (By Jonghyun)

CNBLUE in Excite Music Interview “White”

Excite: We were surprised the synthesizer sounds of your latest song ‘WHITE’. This was made by jonghyun, when have you started making this song?

Jonghyun: It was when we had a tour ‘CNBLUE 2014 ARENA TOUR “WAVE”’ last year.. I had also another schedule like “2014 KINGDOM IN JAPAN-STARLIGHT-“,
I thought to want to make fun song. It was the same way to make a song as always, first of all, I play a phrase with a guitar, then tried arrangement with a PC. This song didn’t have strong sounds, but I’ve made more and more strong.

Excite: You’ve thought to keep going?

Jonghyun: Yes (Laugh) It might too much though (Laugh). Because there was the theme ‘Color’ this time, we thought it was ‘WHITE’.

Excite: We read the lyric. What does it mean for ‘WHITE’ for you?

Jonghyun: There are the light’s three primary colors, and these colors make white even if we mix them up. But in the case of just random color, if we mix them up, they make black. I think that people come to black thinking more and more.. So the theme is ‘be the light!’

Jungshin: For me, I’ve thought that Jonghyun-hyeong always made ballad song like ‘FOXY’ and ‘ECLIPSE’. I think this time’s ‘WHITE’ is different from our songs so far. So, when I heard beginning of this song first, I felt a little bit weird. But I heard it again and again, I’ve been getting the feeling that this is very good.

Minhyuk: As Jungshin said, because I like ‘Eclipse’, ‘Blind Love’ and ‘Never Too late’ as Jonghyun’s song style, I was surprised when I heard this song and felt that he challenged something new. And because this song has lots of synthesizer sounds, I thought “Actually is it our song?”, but I felt fresh about it.

Yonghwa: I also thought that this was a different song so far. And it’s different from the image as a song of CNBLUE ever too. This is attractive song that has refrain of synthesized sounds.

Jungshin: We expect our fan’s response after they heard this song.

Excite: What kind of charm did you want to add to this song by your own bass guitar play?

Jungshin: I think there is a feeling that Jonghyun-hyeong want to, right? So, I played my bass guitar along with it.

Minhyuk: When I was recording, I tried to play along the song. But We’ll arrange it after recording, so I stopped wondering if I play fit with the song or not. I think I play with freedom. Recently, I play drums
by my feeling.

Excite: The feeling that you want to try to be honest to my own feeling is getting more and more?

Minhyuk: I can say Yes.

Excite: The members talked about this song that surprised us, but this is just as your think?

Jonghyun: Yes. In a way it is fun for me. Am I funny? (Laugh)

Everyone: (Laugh)

Jonghyun: I think when fans heard this song, they would be surprised.

Excite: Have you thought that you wanted to try to surprise fans?

Jonghyun: I haven’t had that feeling before. But I have got it more and more.

Excite: Your latest album ‘WAVE’ was the work that showed your sound improvement. This time, do you want to show more changes or improvement in this single CD?

Jonghyun: Well… Actually, I haven’t thought deeply as same as other members. We have had 10 years experiences after starting to play instruments, so I think this change happened naturally. Even except the music, everyone is getting more and more improve while they are practicing. I can say the experience is important.

Minhyuk: I think so.

Jungshin: I think we leave our change to take its own course. We don’t want change on purpose, but let them improve with the passage of time Of course, we might try to something change meaningly. We didn’t think that we have to change this time.

Minhyuk: We surely have improved, but we don’t have some greed to dare to improve. I just did what I felt.

Excite: You just finished to take your MV for this song (*We interviewed them in Feb). We heard that a mystery man will appear in the MV. How was about taking the MV with him?

Yonghwa:… well, he is a strange man.

Jonghyun: absolutely. He was dancing till the end (Laugh). He is really barrel of laughs.

Minhyuk: MR. WHITE is stylish person and pretty Fashionista!

Jungshin: We have had a heroine or ourselves in our MV ever, but this time there were Mr. WHITE. It made us feel different feelings.

Yonghwa: We don’t watch that MV yet, but I impressed about the lighting that was really beautiful.

Excite: Yonghwa’s solo album have released in March and the other members have appeared drama. All of you participate actively in solo. Has something changed about the position of the band CNBLUE in your mind?

Jungshin: I think CNBLUE is such an another family for me. I have something good and something bad in my solo activity. When I am tired, meeting the members makes me to feel relieved. I meet them for working like this, I can feel like that I ‘m at home.

Jonghyun: I don’t think that the activity with CNBLUE is ‘the work’. So, the members do the ‘work’ in their solo activity and then relax here (=the place in CNBLUE). After relaxing in the place of CNBLUE, we go the ‘work’. I think our members are doing their best even if they are in a hard time. I’m proud of that and that helps me to study of life. I think I’ll do my best with them.

Yonghwa: …..

Jungshin: (look at Yonghwa) What is such an expression?! (Laugh)

Yonghwa: I feel like ashamed…

Jungshin: (Laugh) Sometimes we are asked “What do you think about the other members?” In interview. I really hard to answer it because I got some pressure. We are really familiar, like a family.

Minhyuk: We don’t live without family or friends, and everyone has them. CNBLUE is like a family or friend for me. I can say in a different way, ‘the water’.

Excite: They have existing as if it is common sense, but must have.

Jonghyun: We can say so. It has been 10 years since we met first, and we had been living together from we were young. So, I can say I miss it, in a both way of good and bad.

Excite: Absolutely invaluable like a common destiny.

Minhyuk: We want to keep being such a durable band, and have a cool concert. This is my dream.

Yonghwa: Even if we would have own family someday, I want to have a tour with these members!

I am very concerned about how I will customize my car? I don’t buy a new car. I want to be decorate them not only inside but outside. Of course I won’t to infringe a law (Laugh). A concept? It might be an American style? (Laugh)

I like philosophy since over one year and study it with reading books. I like to read a book too, and also like difficult story. Why do I have to earn the money? Why are we alive? I get basically precepts for my life. I am concerned about the economy too. But even though I’ve talked about them to someone, I am looked at like a stranger. So, I enjoy them by myself (Laugh). I got to know I had been living without thinking. I want to get a knowledge more and more. There are lots of things I have to learn.

I can’t sleep well during Summer, but I can sleep well during Winter. Because ‘a hibernation’ is important for me, I look for a comfortable bed. Actually, I’ve got a new one about one month ago, it’s soft and warm. But I still look for another one in good design.

I’ll appear a TV program about fashion in Korea, I want to learn about a fashion. And I have had Golden Retriever from Aug who was born in June. He is already 34kg, even he is still pappy. When I back to home, he welcomes me. His name is “Shimba”.

Yonghwa’s Interview in Shukan-Josei April 7th Issue

What is the thing that this talented artist asked 300 times?

Jong Yonghwa 25 years old (from CNBLUE)

“I care about member’s favorite when I make the song for CNBLUE. This time I made the song for myself. I felt free, but I also felt considerable pressure.”

Jung Yonghwa who started his solo activity with his first album ‘One Fine Day -Japan Special Edition- ‘. He is one of the members of famous Rock band CNBLUE and is known as an actor. He already debuted as a solo in Korea and has got No.1 in TV music program for 11 weeks.

“I think those were like treats because I carried the hope of many people who cooperated for me. TAKURO-san wrote the awesome lyric for me. I really look forward to Japanese fans reaction for this album.”

The title song ‘One Fine Day (Japanese Ver,)’ turned out the sensitive ballad song that is kind of rare song inCNBLUE.

“Because I would like to make a difference from CNBLUE’s song, I wanted to put a ballad as a title song. I also would like to make this song see the scene.”

This song shows the scene of the day to day from happy to farewell, like talk to a former lover, and the kiss scene in this MV causes a buzz among fans. We told that story to him, he commented about this with a bitter smile.

“ I just feel that I was asked 300 times about it by press person.(Laugh). Surely I acted just as a script. There is nothing my ad-lib. I just completely acted as per director’s instruction!! “

Now he has started his solo concert tour in Japan.
“ I feel good that I think everyone has heard my song. I would be happy if they think that Yonghwa could make a song like that or could sing like this. The music for me is my hobby, work and my all! ”

We asked him that when is your ‘One Fine Day’ for him.
“I have ‘One Fine Day’ every day, but I rarely think that I wanted to go back a day when I was a student. Go to school, meet my friends and go outside to play… I think the common day is just a special day for me.”

We got closer to Yonghwa

Q:What is your first experience recently?
A:I have released my solo album (Laugh). CNBLUE members gave me a good comment for it, “Each song is awesome”. (CNBLUE’s 9th single CD ‘WHITE’ will be released on Apr 9. They will have an concert in Osaka and Yokohama.)

Q:Where do you want to go now?
A:Fujikyu Highland. That is located near the Fuji-san, isn’t that?
I heard that there is scary ghost house that takes about one hour for passing through it. I’m not good at to go ghost house, but I want to go there.

Q:What do you want most now?
A:I have nothing special…, but I can say ‘a plane’ only for me. (You can buy it!) oh, no, no. If I can buy a plane, it would be a toy plane. Oh, I can make apaper plane (Laugh)

Q:We saw you were drinking a lactic drink look happily.
A:I like it. But the emotive feeling what I drank it the first time in Japan has been faded. I think because I am grown up (Laugh). It has been 6 years that I debuted as an actor in the drama ‘You Are Beautiful’. everything has been ever-changing (Laugh)

Jung Yonghwa (from CNBLUE)
Born in Busan, 1989. The leader of rock band CNBLUE, and compose almost songs as a singer songwriter. They started their activity under the indie in Japan and debuted in Korea in 2010. They debuted in Japan in 2011 after their concert at Yokohama Arena. Now, they make a world their stage. Yonghwa is drawing attention as an actor too.

—Making a music without inhibition made my inside unwind.—

“My solo activity in Korea was just finished.” He said so once he sat down on a chair with a relaxing expression. When we asked him that your first album got lots of No.1 on a music program, he answered “Yes, I took four awards.” with a shy smile. Even though he is able to show off his history, he always stays cool.

Just after their debut in Japan, they appeared the TV music program ‘COUNTDOWN JAPAN 11/12’ and ‘MTV unplugged’ and more, as a first Korean artist ever. CNBLUE had also first world tour as a Korean Rock band. And now, Yonghwa is widening his appeal as a solo singer who released ‘One Fine Day’.

“A vision for solo activity has started about 2 years ago. While I have composed a song for CNBLUE, I was getting stuck, and having a conflicted feeling. So I thought if I would make a song for myself, I could see new world.”

He joined to make all songs that he collaborated with musicians who famous from Korea and abroad. The form of featuring is more frequent in Korea if they want to join it, but he chooses the form of collaboration that compose and write a lyric to each other. Because it seems he is proud of his mind as a creator.

“Because I became to compose a similar song. But I had a chance to study more about composing while collaborating with several artists. All artists who collaborated for my album were requested by me. All of them are my respecters, so I enjoyed recording, and got inspiration.”

That’s what We call being him an Asian star, collaborate not only various genres of artists in Korea, but also JJ Lin who is a famous singer in Taiwan, Peter Marick in USA and TAKURO from GRAY in Japan. Especially, Yonghwa has promised with JJ Lin that trying to make a song together someday, and realized the promise of it.

“After making a melody, I have decided the main message for this song, it is ‘ I’m always on your side ‘. I think this theme was showed in the lyric, I wanted to try making a song that can help to someone. This is a special experience for me this collaborated song was accepted in Taiwan, China and Japan.”

‘Chekmate’ has the one strong message using by three languages, English, Chinese and Korean. JJ Lin appeared in this song’s MV and came to Korea for appearing on music program with Yonghwa.

“That was the first time we actually did a performance together. Since this lyric has the kind of strong message, we were talking that we have to call all our strength into singing. Actually, JJ Lin was perfect for this, even if it was in rehearsal, it made a big impact on me. The most impressed things for me was singing together in live across a language barrier.

Because Yonghwa has liked GLAY’s ‘HOWEVER’, He asked TAKURO to be let write a lyric. It is ‘I’m glad I loved you’ that is only for Japanese version of ‘One Fine Day’. We asked Yonghwa about this song’s lyric, he answered with his breathy voice.

“At first, I couldn’t believe that he writes the lyric for me, so I have felt very weird and expect. When I saw the lyric, I was really impressed with this, because it had hearty. And another thing, I didn’t talk him the detail of my image, but he made the lyric with the same image as I thought. That was really weird.”

Yonghwa’s looks is cool, but his passion for music is very hot. He has started his solo activity for expanding the activity from a Band. How does he feel this good response?

“A solo activity is like a my homework, but I think making a music without inhibition made my inside unwind. I believe that I can give me more leeway for making a song now and then.
